Raging Storms (Part 2)
"Hello, Daryl Chase speaking."
"Hello, Mr. Chase. This is Samantha. We met earlier at the convenience store."
"I'd know that voice of yours anywhere. I was just thinking about you," he responded.
"Oh, you were, were you? And just what were you thinking?"
"I was thinking about how fortunate I was to have met such a beautiful woman."
"Thank you for those kind words. First, I'd like to thank you for paying for the gas. I really feel bad about it. It was my fault; I should have been paying attention."
"Don't worry about the gas. I should have been watching the pump," he replied. "I thought you'd forgotten all about me," he teased, leaning back on the bed with his hands behind his head.
"How could I ever forget a gentleman such as yourself?"
"I thought a woman as beautiful as you would be taken, so I assumed you'd never call."
"If I wasn't going to call, or if I was taken––as you call it, I wouldn't have accepted your business card in the first place," Samantha responded as she looked at her bright red toes and wiggled them. "Well, Mr. Chase, just what brought you to Turner, and how long will you be with us?"
"Let's just say I'll be around for a while." He stood and walked across the room to stare out the window. "Enough about me; I want to know more about you," he said before taking a sip of his drink.
"I'm the oldest of eight children. My parents have lived in Turner their entire lives. I'm single and don't have any children."
"Where are you employed? Are you seeing anyone? Do you cook? Do you enjoy traveling?" He rattled out one question after another.
"Wow, you're thorough." Samantha sighed. "I'm employed at WeCumm Communications. No, I'm not seeing anyone at the moment. I love to cook, and I make it my business to travel every chance I get."
"What's your favorite food?" he asked.
"I love southern fried chicken. What about you?"
"I have two," he replied. "Lobster and shrimp are equally my absolute favorites."
"What a combination. Lobster and shrimp?" she said before lowering her music.
"Yes," he continued. "I'm a different type of man. Very unusual if I must say so myself."
"I see. I like unusual. I'm a bit unusual myself. Out of all of my siblings, I'm the one that's different from the rest. I guess it's because I'm the oldest."
"What makes you different?" he asked.
"I guess you'd have to see us together. I'm outspoken; they're all passive. I love to travel to exotic places, while they're content just being right here in little old Turner. I can't describe all of the differences."
"Well, all I know is I'd like to get to know you better," he said. "I tell you what, I'll be back in Turner in a few days. Let’s say we do dinner."
Samantha laughed. "You really don't know much about Turner, do you? There's not a single place that you can find decent lobster and shrimp in this town."
"Well, I guess we'll have to do Charleston.
